The
emerald scenic island of Thasos lies on the North Aegean Sea opposite
the shores of East Macedonia, the estuary of Nestos River and Kavala
town. The island makes up one of the four provinces of Kavala
Prefecture of East Macedonia. Thasos' coastline is 115 km long,
whereas a narrow channel 8 nautical miles wide separates it from the
opposite East Macedonian shore.
Thasos is
surrounded by the turquoise waters of the North Aegean with the olive
and pine trees reaching to the waterfront, a place of unique
experiences to visitors. The villages retain their picturesque and
scenic local atmosphere, and at the same time the island has developed
to provide all sorts of modern tourist services and meet the needs of
even the most demanding visitor.
